Optics R&D Programme Manager / Contract
Job description
GCS are working with a Social Networking giant who are looking for a Programme Manager to work alongside their expert engineers and research scientist to create AR and VR pervasive and universal.
They need a Programme manager to support the development of an advanced optics system for their AR/VR product line. As they develop early prototypes and forge a path to mass production the successful candidate will be critical to coordinate their efforts between their teams in Wasor in Ohington and California with their vendor in Oxford.
In order to qualify for this role you'll have to have a solid track record in technical programme management, coordinating between teams located remotely in different time zones. You'll need to have a solid technical background and understand technical development methodologies and concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with, support and manage all of the local UK vendor's research and development activities that support the clients programs
* Develop/enhance a research and development plan to meet their technology's performance and cost targets
* Drive the execution of the program in close collaboration with the Washington and Oxford teams.
* Propose and help develop internal/vendor processes to increase efficiency and improve R&D
processes
* Work closely and onsite with the vendor (in Oxford) keeping all the development activities
moving forward as planned.
* Collaborate closely with the team in Washington making sure all the plans and milestones are well
aligned
* Together with the local TPM, prepare and deliver weekly status reports to the wider team and management in Washington.
